Our flagship bespoke service, Blaen y Waun is a 2-bedded home set on the outskirts of a small Welsh village called Mynyddcerrig in West Wales. The busy towns of Carmarthen and Llanelli are a short drive away and the fantastic West Wales Coast is easily accessible. Blaen y Waun is set within 14 acres of land with its own driveway.
The home is rurally located in order to work with the most complex young people who psychologists deem to require the quiet of a country setting.
Our other service in the area, Ty Canol (opening June 2018) is 600 metres away and works alongside Blaen y Waun.
Our model at Blaen y Waun, transitions children and young people to foster care, family or a return home. They have access to therapeutic provision should this be required, delivered by the Hiraeth Institute (including eco therapy) and are provided with a period of stability, reinforced with appropriate boundaries and consistent care and role models. The therapeutic model used is the Trauma Recovery Model.
There will be an Estyn registered school on site and, in addition, and if appropriate, residents are supported in mainstream school.
Priority Childcare has service level agreements with several independent foster services to assist in moving young people to appropriate placements.
