Tŷ Banwen is a warm and welcoming one-bedroom children’s home situated in Treharris on the outskirts of the town of Merthyr Tydfil.

The home is registered to offer medium to long-term placements for children, aged 5-19, who may have had a difficult or traumatic start in life, and who require a period of stability and unconditional care.

Our friendly professional support team are trained to empower young people to live their best lives. Our model of care includes a suite of therapeutic options that allows the home to support the whole child as they progress towards their independence.

The town of Merthyr is just a short drive away from Tŷ Banwen, and with access to the home’s vehicle and the network of local transport links, the child can enjoy visits to a wide range of places, from the lively city of Cardiff to the dramatic landscapes of the Brecon Beacons and the beaches. The local town also offers a wide range of sporting and leisure activities.

Whilst education is not offered on-site, it is easily accessible from Ty Banwen, either via our own school at Tŷ Trafle or via a local maintained school.

Prior to offering a placement, we conduct an initial assessment to make sure our home is well-suited to the specific needs of the child. This ensures that we are offering a suitable environment that can help the child to thrive.
